A. Classes are structured so as to contain 14 – 16 students. EMENDY’s philosophy is to provide quality education through attention to each student’s personal educational requirements by providing personal attention to each individual ensuring maximum exposure and practical experience.
Q. What are the lecturers at EMENDY like?
A. The lecturers at EMENDY are young, vibrant and all active musicians, producers and or engineers in the music industry..
Q. Will I need a computer or any other equipment for my classes?
A. EMENDY provides the necessary computers and music equipment needed for students to complete their assignments, and projects. Should students wish to complete their additional unscheduled work from home they will have to obtain the necessary hardware and software as recommended. All students are legible to obtain equipment and software for huge student discounts from Orange Music while studying.
Q. Do I need to purchase any additional prescribed course material?
A. All course material and prescribed books are included and no additional or hidden costs are added to the total course costs.
Q. How often will my class schedule change?
A. Once registered you will find placement in a specific timeslot with a fixed schedule for the duration of your course. Should there be any changes to the roster in terms of class days or times you will be notified in advance.
Q. How many hours do my classes consist of per week?

Q. How frequently will I be assessed during the course?
A. To maintain our high standard of education we assess students on a regular basis to ensure they fully comprehend the theoretical and practical concepts covered during the lectures. Students will receive weekly assignments, write and complete theoretical and practical tests after completion of each module in all their subjects and complete theoretical and practical examinations after the first and second semesters.
Q. How can I access my course progress on a regular basis?
A. We provide students with an online portal named “SODA” where they have access to student marks, course progress, important announcements as well as information about their lecturers and course details including their financial statements.
Q. How often will I receive course progress reports?
A. Progress reports are generated four times a year (quarterly) and provided to students and or guardians as requested on the registration form.
Q. What other resources does Emendy provide for students during their studies?
A. During your studies you will have access to the internet, a vast variety of music recording and production software and hardware, music industry related books and magazines, lectures from well known music industry specialists, fully equipped recording studios and facilities, access to a database of music industry contacts as well as various means of marketing and promotional tools, forums and websites.
Q. Do I have to book my practical sessions at the college?
A. Yes, in order to make provision for all students to work in the practical and computer labs you will have to book your sessions 24 hours in advance.
Q. Is it important to have good attendance?
A. In order to successfully graduate from EMENDY Sound & Music Technology College, students are required to maintain a 60% average and 80% lecture and lab attendance in all courses.
Q. Will I get vacation breaks during normal school holidays?
A. EMENDY students have three holiday breaks throughout the year that will be announced at the beginning of your course. There will be no class presentations during South African public holidays.
